Rhinoplasty is commonly referred to as a “nose job.” This surgical procedure works to enhance the outward look of the nose, or its external aesthetics. That often involves reshaping a “crooked” nose or bringing a large nose into better proportion with the rest of the face.
To Increase or reduce the size of the nose; change the shape of the tip of the nose, the bridge of the nose and the nostrils; change the angle between the nose and the upper lip; and straighten the septum (the part inside the nose that separates the nostrils).
Rhinoplasty generally takes 1.5 to 3 hours and is usually an outpatient procedure. In “closed rhinoplasty,” incisions are made within the nostrils – a technique that has a limited ability to make changes. In “open rhinoplasty,” an incision is made across the tissue between the nostrils as well as within the nostrils.
The average recovery period is typically 7 to 10 days, but it always depends on the individual.
