What is Tummy Tuck?

Tummy Tuck, also known as Abdominoplasty; It is the name given to the surgical operation performed to stretch the skin after the removal of excess fat tissue in the abdomen, to restore the weakened muscles to create a tighter abdominal profile, and to create a flat abdomen.

How to Make Tummy Tuck

Tummy Tuck surgery is basically performed in 3 ways:

Full Tummy Tuck -Abdominoplasty
Mini Tummy Tuck -Mini Abdominoplasty
Extended Tummy Tuck – Extended Abdominoplasty

In Extended Tummy Tuck Surgery, in addition to reducing the fat tissue in the abdomen and tightening the abdominal muscles, the butt and waist area are also included. The skin is stretched by pulling upwards to reduce sagging in the hips, back-lumbar region called love handles, and outer thighs.

Tummy Tuck Stages

Tummy Tuck Surgery is planned with “mini Tummy Tuck” or “full Tummy Tuck” surgery options according to the needs of the person. Which surgical procedure is suitable for you is decided according to the examination to be performed by your doctor. Tummy Tuck surgery stages have similar steps in both types of Tummy Tuck surgery;

Step 1 – Anesthesia: Tummy Tuck Surgery is performed under general anesthesia. Options include intravenous sedation and general anesthesia. Your doctor will recommend the best choice for you.

Step 2 – Incision: A full tummy tuck requires a horizontally oriented incision in the area between the pubic line and belly button. The incision shape and length are determined by the amount of excess skin. The abdominal skin is tightened and then the weakened underlying abdominal muscles are repaired. The upper abdominal skin is pulled down. Excess skin is trimmed and the remaining skin is stitched together. In Mini Tummy Tuck surgery, no application is made about the navel location, while a new opening is created for the navel in full tummy tuck surgery. The belly button is opened towards the surface and stitched in place.

Step 3 - Closing the incisions: In the last step of the surgery, the incisions; closed with the help of stitches or clips.
